NEVER GIVE UP
In this 2008 Big Ten Track Championships indoor 600 meter race Heather Dorniden of the University of Minnesota fell face forward on the third lap. But guess what, she doesn't pack it in while the other 3 runners in the race keep driving for the finish line.
This is the Big Ten Championship race. These ladies are clearly top quality athletes moving with significant power and grace.
Heather did not quit on herself. Therefore, she was victorious.
To me, this is an important message for anybody with the desire to succeed, whatever the field. Many clients who come to us for assessment have basically "given up" on their health condition and have been told "this is something you just have to live with because there is nothing else we can do." I have seen many cases where a child was told that by a person in authority and because the parents come to believe the authoritative verdict, the child settles in and "lives with it" during day-to-day life when in fact they just may not have to "live with it."
Therefore, for any adults who are "living with it" or adults who have children "living with it" we offer a complimentary consultation and spinal evaluation in order to find out if your condition could be helped with ProAdjuster computerized instrument chiropractic.
Keep in mind, Heather never gave up. So don't you ever ever give up! Richard.
KIDS AND SPORTS
Years of observation shows that most kids are introduced to the technical aspects of sports without any kind of athletic movement preparation based on fun and enjoyment. Now, with kids specializing in one sport's competition and training throughout almost the entire year, sport-specific injuries will develop as if the youngster at age 9-11 years is already a professional athlete focusing on that one sport.
Consequently, the novice player is asked to hit a ball, catch a ball, kick a ball, shoot a puck, skate, run, or jump during tryouts or actual competition. Without movement foundation preparation, certain probabilities will come true for most kids. Without the appropriate inherited genes to overcome poor training/teaching/inevitable injuries, the player will fail and fail and fail, only to eventually lose interest. Those acute and chronic injuries will appear and doom the player to athletic failure. These injuries, when left covered up and left intact, will eventually compromise the child’s back, knees, shoulders, etc. through compensation and overwork.
Female athletes who specialize have been found to be particularly susceptible to major knee injuries. A college scholarship can evaporate with a crunch of bone, a sudden twist of the spine, or snap of ligament, but the long-term effects can be even worse, with an enhanced risk of conditions such as debilitating arthritis in the future.
Kids need to have a healthy, balanced spine in order to eventually master complex athletic movements without thinking about those movements. As an added plus, the healthy balanced spine will add years to one’s robust quality of life.
In order to protect the spine and delicate nervous system, fluid and leveraged athletic movements (appropriate to the individual) are an absolute must prior to technical competition such as hitting, throwing, shooting, catching, or tracking a moving object.

TREATMENT OF HIP INJURIES
On numerous occasions I have witnessed first-hand the immediate, short, and long-term consequences of a fall on the rear end during hockey, football, surfing, mountain biking, baseball, martial arts, and basketball.
It’s this “thud” when the entire weight of the body is absorbed by the rear end or one side of the hips. This "thud" is a health-robber, a scholarship evaporator, an academics inhibitor, and a spine-wrecker.
I’m telling you Moms and Dads out there. If this mechanical pelvic trauma is handled by symptom-suppressing non-mechanical treatment your child will simply not “get better” and will not overcome the joint and tissue damage caused by the impact of the fall. Do not let that happen.
Taking a symptom-suppressing drug for a mechanical pelvic or spinal problem is just like changing the oil (or changing the brand of oil) in your car and thinking it will realign the tires. Misaligned tires are a mechanical problem. Drugs are a chemical additive. Changing the oil won't correct the misaligned tires as the misaligned tires are a mechanical problem. Chiropractic works because a mechanical problem is matched with a mechanical solution. There is no such thing as a chemical cure for a mechanical problem!
Aside from causing breakdown in sports performance, this specific trauma, when left untreated by proper means, will cause significant health problems during teenage, early adult, and mid-life years. When the mechanical trauma misaligns the structure, the structure will grow in a mechanically-misaligned manner. Down the road into “middle age” you will have a chronically unhealthy person who has "prematurely aged” with significant arthritis throughout the pelvis and spine. What a life!
So, here it is Mom and Dad. I am offering to your child a consultation and spinal screening evaluation in order to determine if spinal and or pelvic problems exist or does not exist. Either way, you will receive valuable information about your girl's or boy’s spinal health. It’s that simple. Make the vital decision and call 360-734-5433 right now so that your child doesn't end up with the ignored, chronic physical limitations many parents actually live with day-by-day in their own particular bodies.
